75% Grenache, 25% Syrah
Unsulphured Rasteau, such a rarity and such a triumph! "Meme Pas Peur" - or 'even though I am afraid' - Gardine battled the nerves and produced this spectacular bottle. Buy this with the Gardine Rasteau 2017 to see for yourself the effects of added sulphur in winemaking.
Tasting notes: Fresh, bright and vibrant, fragrant blueberries, cranberries, red cherries. Dense and plush on the palate with a distinct liveliness from the lack of added sulphur. Touch of baking spices, cinnamon, cloves on the finish. You may notice a delicate sparkling on the tip of your tongue from the carbon dioxide added to keep the wine, swirl vigorously to drive off the bubbles.
Drink with: Excellent with curries and Indian food. The freshness of the wine is a great foil to the hearty curries, and the robustness, light spiciness of the wine echoes the flavours of the curries. Otherwise, Mediterranean foods, pizzas, pastas, olives, oregano, sage rosemary and thyme. Grilled foods, cheeses and charcuterie boards. Serve at 18C. Drink now, can hold till 2023 - 2025.
Winemaking notes: 100% hand harvested, grapes are rigorously sorted so only the cleanest make it into the wine. Small amounts of whole bunch fermentation done to amp up the fruitiness. Wine is aged in stainless steel.
