Seguin-Manuel Beaune "Champimonts" 1er Cru 2017

100% Pinot Noir

From terroirs of chalk, clay and stones grown mid-slope, on a hill facing the East. Vines are more than 35 years old. 

Grapes are partially destemmed, and fermented for 16 days. The wine is matured in French oak for 14 months. Rich, concentrated, deep, and earthy, my personal favourite. Only matched by dry aged beef. Else, just drink it on its own! 

Burgundy Report: "A little herby reduction. Good volume and a reductive flavour profile – but this is open and clean, feels great in the mouth with layers of finishing flavour touched modestly by the oak. A dense but (slowly) meltingly complex finish. This will be lovely."
